The East Tennessee side of The Great Smoky Mountains cabin rental area, including
Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge,
Wears Valley and Townsend,
is a magical setting. From your car, foot, or on horseback you may build a book of
memories.
The Great Smoky Mountains Park is one of the largest protected
areas in the Eastern part of the United States. The
area is know for its diversity of plants, animal life,
beautiful mountains, historic culture, and even its rough
wilderness.
While in the Great Smoky Mountains Park, you can enjoy hiking,
biking, camping, fishing, riding horses, swimming, tubing,
or just relaxing. There are over 850 mile of hiking trails
ranging from difficult to moderate. The Appalachian
Trail runs 70 miles within the Park's ridge.
Smoky Mountains Travel Information:
Bicycling in the Smoky Mountains-
There is limited biking in the Smoky's due to the step and
narrow roadways. Bicycles are prohibited on the
trials. The look around Cades Cove is closed to
automobile traffic on Wednesday and Saturday until 10 a.m.

Horseback Riding in the Smoky
Mountains - You can rent horses from private stables all
around the Smoky Mountains. You are required to horse
back ride with a guide in most areas. Children under 6
years of age must ride with an adult. If you own
a horse, phone park HQ for more information at (865)
436-1200. There is one drive-in horse camp in Tennessee /
Smoky Mountains. Reservations are required and can be made
by calling (800) 365-CAMP.
Fishing in the Smoky Mountains -
There is great fishing in the Smoky's streams. These
streams include Abrams Creek below Cades Cove, Big Creek on
the south end of the park. You will find smallmouth
bass, rock bass, rainbow trout or brown trout and is allowed
from sun up until sun set. You must have a Tennessee or
North Carolina state fishing license.
